Causal Map of Work Stress in Mexico

Introduction: From an organizational perspective, occupational stress has become an important element to consider, as it leads to several consequences that directly affect it. The objective of this research is to identifying the links between psychosocial variables and their consequences in increasing or reducing work - related stress in Mexican SMEs.
Method: A methodology combining a review of specialized on work – related stress and data analysis using the system dynamics tool, specifically the cause – effect diagram, was employed.
Results: The result obtained was a causal diagram that visualizes the interrelationships between various psychosocial variables and the potential consequences in terms of work – related stress in Mexican SMEs. This map provides a graphical representation of the factors that may influence work – related stress in this specific context.
Conclusions: This study employed an innovative approach by using a cause – effect diagram to explore the complex interactions between psychosocial variables and occupational stress in Mexican SMEs. Key factors such as organizational change, workload, and job satisfaction were identified as significantly influencing worker´s stress level. This casual map provides a valuable visual tool to guide future research and policies aimed at promoting healthier and more productive work environments in Mexico, particularly within the context of small and médium – sized enterprises.
