Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) constitutes a fundamental indicator for assessing the impact of nutritional status on individuals’ physical, psychological, and social well-being. Scientific evidence demonstrates that an adequate nutritional status is associated with improved quality of life, greater functional capacity, better sleep quality, and an enhanced ability to perform daily and occupational activities. Among working populations, particularly in the context of the progressive aging, nutrition has acquired strategic importance, as it influences productivity, functional capacity, and the extension of a healthy working life.
Traditionally, the relationship between nutrition and HRQoL has been evaluated through the combined use of generic quality-of-life questionnaires and nutritional assessment tools. However, this approach has limitations in identifying the specific impact of nutritional status on individuals’ perception of health. In this context, the CaVEN questionnaire has emerged as a specific and validated instrument for measuring quality of life related to nutritional status. Its structure encompasses physical, emotional, social, and occupational dimensions, enabling a comprehensive assessment of the effects of nutrition on health. Its application in occupational settings may contribute to the identification of at-risk situations, guide preventive interventions, and promote healthy aging among workers.
Consequently, the objective of this article was to assess the usefulness of the CaVEN questionnaire in evaluating quality of life related to nutritional status and to analyze its potential applications in the workplace.
