Abstract

Objective: To correlate occupational accidents with the health conditions and sociodemographic profile of workers in a company in the telecommunications sector during the years 2023 and 2024 through a statistical analysis, using the organization’s accident records databases. Method: This study was descriptive and quantitative, taking into account variables such as accidents that occurred to workers related to the company during the course of activities carried out in the years 2023 to 2024, recorded in the company’s database and the health conditions and sociodemographic profile of its workers.

Results: Different causes and correlations were identified between the events (age, sex, seniority in the company, underlying diseases, physical activity and working hours) and the characteristics of the workers, along with affected segments and predominant factors.

Conclusion: In short, the health conditions and the socio-demographic profile of the working population do influence and are related to the occurrence of work accidents. Some have more influence than others, such as a sedentary lifestyle, which is more relevant with 63% of those injured, and even being female predisposes people to them more, with 61% of those injured. Next to this is age, where the most favourable range is 36 - 45 years with 37%. Regarding pre-existing illnesses of workers, these do not directly influence the occurrence of work accidents.
